En agosto de este año, hicimos un viaje que teníamos pendiente a Jaqué, Darién para visitar un proyecto de mujeres que confeccionan papel reciclado que nos lleva llamando hace años. La Fundación Colegio La Tierra nos invitó a conocer el pueblo y los proyectos que se llevan a cabo allí. En el viaje nos hablaron de un proyecto que busca hablar sobre la frontera y migración entre Panamá y Colombia, disipar estigmas y prejuicios sobre un territorio de historia compleja y más que nada reconectar a la gente de un territorio dividido: El Chocó.
Hacia el Litoral: acción colectiva – concebido por Yolanda Chois, consiste en que un grupo de artistas de Panamá y otro de Colombia viajen por pueblos del Chocó en Colombia hasta Jaqué, Las Perlas y la ciudad de Panamá – sitios de migración. Yolanda, ya trabajando con Alamanaque Azul de Panamá, buscaba una organización artística de este lado que pudiera facilitar un diálogo sobre el proceso y sobre la colectividad. Además, una organización que compartiera valores similares a los de Más Arte Más Acción – así nos encontramos y nos invitó a compartir la primera parte del viaje de Nuquí a Guachalito, Chocó, Colombia con el Colectivo Radio Relajo de Cali, quienes crearon La Radio Va Llena para ir colectando historias, paisajes sonoros, música y saludos para compartir con las comunidades, al ir subiendo el litoral. Estas postales sonoras fueron haciendo sensación! Moviendo recuerdos y transformando percepciones. Usan un dispositivo genial de participación comunitaria: la estación viajera y el mapa sonoro (ver detalles en la galería de fotos)

El grupo me dejó en Guachalito, donde conocí a las maravillosas mentes tras Más Arte Más Acción y pasé 6 días geniales de sol, lluvia, comida chocoana de Laura y Espacio Para Pensar! Estudio Nuboso – Hacia el Litoral – Más Arte Más Acción – Colombia – Panamá – aclarando panoramas y retomando visiones originales.
La sostenibilidad es, sin duda alguna, una red de interconexión.

In August this year, we did a trip we had been meaning to do for ages, to Jaqué, Darién, to visit a group of women who make recycled paper. The Fundación Colegio La Tierra invited us to get to know the place and other projects they have been doing there. On the trip we get to talk about a project that would come later that year, all about the border and immigration between Panama and Colombia – with the intention to shift the preconceptions about the area and its complex history; moreover, to reconnect the communities of a divided territory: El Chocó.
Hacia el Litoral: acción colectiva – conceived by Yolanda Chois, consists of a journey by a group of artists from Panama and another from Colombia, through the towns in the Chocó, up to Jaqué, Las Perlas and Panama City – sites of migration. Yolanda, already working with Alamanaque Azul from Panama, was searching for a more art-based organisation on this side that could facilitate a dialogue about the process and about collectivity. An organisation that might share the same vision as Más Arte Más Acción – quite flattered by the connection, we met and she invited us to accompany them on the first part of the journy from Nuquí to Guachalito in Chocó, Colombia. Yolanda and I met in Medellín and joined the collective Radio Relajo from Cali, who created La Radio Va Llena (a play on words that translates to the radio is full, and also the whale radio) to collect stories, soundscapes, music and greetings to share with the communities we met as we went up the coast. These sound postcards were the bomb! Moving memories and transforming present perceptions. They use an amazing set-up for community participation: la estación viajera (traveling station) y el mapa sonoro (sound map) – see the photos in the gallery.

The group left me in Guachalito, where I met the minds behind Más Arte Más Acción and spent 6 days of sun, rain, Laura’s chocoan food and space to think and be. Estudio Nuboso – Hacia el Litoral – Más Arte Más Acción – Colombia – Panamá – clearing out the horizon, remembering original visions.
Sustainability is definitely a network.
